Company History
The Motawi Tileworks was founded in 1992 when Nawal set up a table at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market and was commissioned to create her first fireplace installation. Six months later she was joined by her brother Karim and they moved the studio into a two-car garage. Today the Motawi Tileworks employs around 20 people and occupies its own 12,600 square foot studio and showroom.
About The Tiles
Motawi tiles are meant to be used in a number of ways. The low-relief and polychrome tiles are for accenting installations, and are also sold singly as art pieces. They come with a notch on the back for hanging or can be framed. They also make field tile in a variety of sizes, architectural borders, moldings, v-caps, bullnoses and many other trims for your special installations.
